"Einmal ist keinmal" is a German proverb meaning "once doesn’t count; once means never." If we live only once, it's as if we haven't lived at all, with no previous lives to compare to or future ones to modify. Milan Kundera articulated this point, suggesting our lives are filled with inexperience: we have never experienced childhood as a child, youth as a youth, or marriage as a spouse, so we exist within the realm of inexperience.
This work was created using Blender and includes recreations of my grandmother’s house: the bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom where I spent my childhood. I also modeled my elementary school classroom, the amusement park, and sports equipment near my home, as well as the hill below my house. All these spaces are compressed into a single desk. This piece represents my inexperienced life and serves as a re-experience of that inexperience.
